WEEKLY FOOD BASKET

I deliver on Tuesday to anywhere within Yucca Valley or Landers.

Although farm co-ops usually give you a box full of whatever they grow each week I felt that wasn't homey enough for my tastes.  Besides, many people don't want a box of produce every week.

Hence the "food basket" was born.

You have a choice.  Small baskets are $4, Large baskets are $5.  During melon season you can add a melon to your basket order. Eggs are 50c a piece.  More later as to why they are so expensive.

What you get is potluck and whatever I have available that week.

If you don't want a delivery for a specific week please email me by Monday 5pm and let me know.

Weekly Food Baskets are available throughout the year.  A vision of the food basket dates back to my childhood.  We had a tradition in our neighborhood.  A big basket circulated among neighbors; when it arrived on your doorstep it was filled with wondrous goodies.  You didn't know from whom it came from.  The first food fairy no doubt.  When you were finished with the goodies, you filled the basket and left it on someone else's doorstep.

SERVICES

WHAT I GROW IN THE SUMMER

Eggplant (7 kinds)

melon (11 kinds)

squash (3 summer squash)

cukes (3 kinds)

zukes (3 kind)

strawberries (spring)

herbs: 5 kinds of basil, oregao, borage (more in the works)

Occasionally you will find a "goodie" in your basket - a peach, a nectarine.  Winter was hard on the orchard this winter so pickins will be slim - and work continues to shelter the trees better so buds don't freeze in a late frost.  But I will share as I can.

WHY ARE THE EGGS SO EXPENSIVE?

A better way to explain might be just to give you their feed schedule in a day.

5am - they are waiting at the gate and as I approach they call out and I can hear them smacking their lips.

Oatmeal with chard - might not sound good to you but believe you me they love it.

2 hours later they get apple peelings from organic apples.

2 hours later they get a cereal made of whole grains: barley, wheat, rye, rice and whole oats

Lettuce and sprouts are served ala carte throughout the day.

They get added goodies: melon, squash, peaches (the ducks turn their beaks up at this faire but the chickens  come running at a full gallop.

For dinner they get fresh cracked corn, millet and for the chickens - sun flower seeds.

Its not cheap and I doubt I really make any money back but I bet once you eat their eggs you won't want any others
